Two-Day Bespoke Hat Making Workshop

Step into the world of traditional hat making and learn the craft of creating your very own bespoke hat from start to finish.

My two-day, hands-on hat making workshop is designed for those who want to learn the fundamentals of the craft while experiencing the process of making a hat by hand. Whether you’re completely new to hat making or looking to refine your skills, this intimate workshop will give you the knowledge, techniques, and confidence to continue creating on your own.

Over the course of two full days, we’ll work through the complete hat-making process; from selecting and preparing your felt, to blocking, shaping, sanding, finishing, and adding the details that bring your hat to life.

• Understanding fur felt and choosing the right material
• Measuring and understanding head sizing
• Preparing and working with a felt body
• Blocking and shaping techniques
• Creating and refining your desired crown shape
• Brim shaping and flange techniques
• Steam, heat, and moisture — and how they affect felt
• Pouncing and finishing techniques
• Creating clean, professional edges
• Hat banding and finishing details
• Proper finishing and care for your completed hat

This workshop is intentionally hands-on and meticulous. Hat making is a craft that cannot be rushed. Patience, precision, and attention to detail are what transform a raw felt body into a beautifully finished hat.

By the end of the two days, you’ll have created your own custom hat and gained a deeper understanding of the techniques behind the craft.
